This fiction novel follows Emily’s journey of self-discovery, self-acceptance, and transition as a male-to-female transsexual youth.

Rating:  5 out of 5 stars.  An inspiring young adult novel that addresses important issues that are so often untouched.

Author:  Rachel Gold; a marketing-strategist and former reporter for a GLBT newspaper.  This author was inspired by the transwomen in her life.

Intended Audience:  Transsexuals, transgendered, genderqueer, youth, young adults, psychotherapists, parents, etc.

Memorable Quote:  “If magic didn’t turn me into a real girl, they way I’d wanted as a kid, there were other ways” (p. 74).

Summary:  Follow the protagonist, Emily, and her girlfriend, Claire, as they learn what it means to be transsexual.  Join Emily during her moments of confusion, struggle, desperation, hope, relief, and happiness as a male-to-female transsexual youth.  This book reviews resources, introduces the World Professional Association for Transgender Health, and addresses the importance of seeing a qualified, informative, and supportive psychotherapist.
